Memorial Resolutions
Following the death of an active or retired faculty member at The University of Texas, a memorial resolution committee is formed to writeup the faculty member's career. These resolutions are archived on the Faculty Council website: https://facultycouncil.utexas.edu/memorial-resolutions However the phhysicis resolutions are within those of the complete faculty and require some effort to find. To facilitate access to the physics faculty, this page was created. It enables one to go directly to a physics faculty member's resolution.
There are a number of missing resolutions which I hope to help create. Also there are brief resolutions by staff in the Faculty Council office apparently as a result of no resolution submitted by the appointed committee. These have been marked "Incomplete. "I hope to extend these to more fully describe their contributions.
Included here are also the links to faculty members' bios which appear on the UT Physics History website. The bios are more detailed and include photos and documents.
While far more individuals have been UT faculty members than those in the list below, only those that died while on the facuty or after retiring are accorded a memorial resolution. I am aware of one physics exception, Marshall Rosenbluth, the celebrated plasma theorist.
